Message	you will lose $900. This guy advised you to put in a reman, and he chose the source for the reman parts. It's on him, and he's not doing something right. And, he's not being totally straight with you: "won't tell me which brands he used", and "refuses to deal with Courtesy", (I don't even understand his reason). ... If he doesn't want to do it again, then negotiate with him from there. If he's motivated to not do it again, he might be more willing to go to Courtesy or just give you some money back to get it out of his hair.
